Cedar Storage Southeast is located at 804 Vernon Valley Drive, just north of the Mt. Vernon Road and Highway 13 intersection. You can use either Mt Vernon Road or Highway 13 to get to the property.
Self-storage is a rental service where you can store items in a room the size of a small bedroom or a space large enough to store an RV! Self-storage is a great way to store your property without having to take up space in your home or office. We also offer outdoor parking for your RV, boat, or commercial vehicle.
Each unit has a door to the outside where you can drive your vehicle right up to it.
This is the most common type of door used in storage facilities. A roll-up door is opened, closed and locked via a sliding latch. When the roll-up door is unlocked and opened, it simply rolls upwards, helping maximize your storage space so you don’t need to worry about door-swing clearance.
The cost of storage depends on the amount of space you need. Our prices start as low as $49 per month for a small outdoor space and go up in size and price from there. Our goal is to determine your needs and then provide you with the right amount of space for a price you can afford.
Live electrical outlets are provided in many of the larger units designed for RV’s, boats, and commercial vehicles. There are also live electrical outlets in the 10’ x 20’ and 10’ x 25’ units in the RV storage area.
Climate-controlled units are equipped with ceiling lights and individual heating/cooling vents..
Yes. However, we require something under the vehicle to catch the oil drippings. Oil spots are an automatic forfeiture of your deposit.
It depends on the size of the unit:
- The standard unit sizes 10’ x 10’, 10’ x 15’, 10’ x 20’, and 10’ x 25 have doors that are 9’ wide and 7’ high.
- RV storage units are 10’ x 20’ and 10’ x 25’ with doors that are 9’ wide and 10’ high.
- The 30’, 40’ and 48’ deep units are designed for storage of RV’s and larger vehicles. The larger units have doors that are 12’ wide and 14’ high Many of the larger units are also equipped with automatic push-button door openers.
When a space is available that meets your specific storage needs, you can move in anytime after the rental agreement is complete and a gate code is entered.
Access to your unit is 24 hours daily, seven days per week. This includes holidays.
Our office is open by appointment. Just give us a call. Phone calls are answered weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.
You can give anyone you wish access to your storage unit.
It’s your responsibility to provide them with a key and access code. Cedar Storage Southeast employees will not grant someone access who is not on the rental agreement, nor do employees have access to your storage unit. We do this to increase the security and safety of our storage facilities.
We do not offer a mover. We have formed professional relationships with local movers and may be able to recommend someone.
We require a government-issued photo ID (example: drivers license, state ID, or passport). If you’re storing a vehicle outdoors, please bring in a copy of your registration or title.
We offer month-to-month leases. There is a one-month minimum stay. You can also inquire about our pre-pay discounts as they offer savings for long-term customers.
You will be asked to pay pro-rated rent for the rest of the current month and a security deposit that we will hold until you move out. If you’re renting on the 15th of the month or later, we also ask that you pay the rent for the following full month since our billing process has already started.
Payments can be made at the facility, by mail, online, by phone, or automatically charged to your credit card, debit card, or bank account. We accept cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. Our mailing address is:

Bills are mailed during the last week of every month.
Rent is due on, or before the 1st of each month. Cedar Storage does offer a ten day grace period. If rent isn’t paid by the 10th, on the 11th day, late fees will be added to your account and a late notice mailed as a reminder.
If rent is still unpaid by the 20th, you will be denied access to your unit. After 30 days, your lock will be removed and a “lien notice” is mailed. We will claim a lien against the property in the unit.
In accordance with Iowa law, notices will be published in the local newspaper and an auction of the contents scheduled after required waiting times provided in the Iowa Code. There has been a lot of attention focused on storage auctions due to many different reality TV shows.
The truth is that we do everything we can to avoid having to auction off the contents of any storage unit. We only go to auction as the very last resort. Cedar Storage attempts to contact the tenant multiple times through every method possible — phone, text message, email, and multiple letters by mail. The only purpose of the auction is to make the unpaid space available to a paying customer.
We require 30 days written notice prior to leaving in order to receive the security deposit back.
A written notice 30days prior to moving out is required. Once this is provided and when you have vacated all your items (including trash to avoid a cleaning fee), sweep the floor, remove your lock, and let the manager know you are completely done. Remind them to cancel your auto-pay if you have one set up.
If you leave the space in the same condition as you found it, you will receive your full deposit.
Each tenant provides the lock for their own unit. You can purchase the recommended stainless steel disc lock for us for $10 or they are also available at local hardware and home improvement stores at a slightly higher price.
The property is well-lit with a 7 foot fence topped with three barbed wires. We have seventeen surveillance cameras that record activity around the clock. A personal gate code is given to each customer. Customers provide their own locks for their individual units.
Cedar Storage does not insure any contents. Insurance is not required, but, it is recommended to protect you and your belongings.If you have home owners or renters insurance, you may be covered. We suggest calling your agent.
You may NOT store explosives, flammable liquids, toxic materials and perishables. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.
At Cedar Storage Southeast, we heat, cool, and monitor humidity using geothermal in our climate-controlled building. This is ideal for storing promotional materials, pharmaceutical samples, furniture, electronics, artwork, valuables, and business files.
Handcarts and dollies are provided in the climate-controlled building to help with your move.
Unfortunately, units in our climate-controlled storage building are accessed by an inside hallway that isn’t large enough to drive a vehicle in.
Here at Cedar Storage, we take pride in our locally owned small business. We live and work in the Cedar Rapids area. We’re responsible for all aspects of the business. Nancy and I clean and exterminate units and make sure the property is well kept. I’m the one who answers the phone and works at the business every day. Our customers are important to us.
